I’ve been around cameras for as long as I can remember.
When I was a little girl, I’d sneak up to the attic with my dad and admire his incredible camera collection - old, vintage beauties collected for years. In our family, photos and storytelling go hand-in-hand; we’d sit through hours of slides featuring old family photographs, complete with rich stories passed down through generations, listening to tales of great-aunts and grandparents. The photos, detailed and full of expression, made these long-passed loved ones come alive. For years, my dad wouldn’t go anywhere without his trusty Nikon, and now he is among the saints who have passed - leaving me to carry on his legacy of capturing stories untold.
At U.Va. (Wahoowa!), my passion developed in the darkroom, where I learned the beautiful art of film photography. I’ve always been the one behind the lens, snapping candids of my friends, dragging my husband out at dawn to capture epic sunrise shots, and constantly photographing my sweet Siberian, Ava. As our family has grown, my kiddos have become my favorite subjects — closely followed by my clients’ sweet families.
Originally from Alabama, I have a deep appreciation for Southern hospitality, sunny porches, and pie. I’ve also traveled to 30+ countries and 45 states, and love to incorporate a creative, global perspective into my work. I derive inspiration from other cultures, fashion, design, classical music (violinist of nearly 31 years!), nature, and, of course, pups.
When I’m not traveling or photographing, you can find me hiking in the Shenandoahs, exploring locally and abroad, in the kitchen with Tom and our kids, or playing tennis.
With a career in communications, photographs seem like a natural extension of what I already do best: tell stories. It is one of my greatest desires to cultivate joy, capture your unique story, and provide an experience that reminds you why you fell in love in the first place. Our time together will be full of laughter and leave you feeling even more closely connected — with timeless images that tell a story for years to come.
